And I win again.
EDIT: In this episode:
-Direct X? 10? 11? 57?
-Pre-production waste?
-Less players=More units?
-Fast play mode?
-You bastard!|||lol|||I vote for DX 10.|||Is it just me or has it been removed? :S|||Peacebreaker|||chosan|||http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php ... 548&ref=mf
works for me...|||OMG, THEY KILLED JESSICA!|||hahaha nice ending|||Well according to http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/?platform=pc
More specifically
Image
56% of all computer pc users can use DX10 versus 5.6% for DX11 and 31% for DX9. In terms of most bang for you buck, DX9 is still the winner, but taking a chance with DX10 may also work out.|||You've created a time paradox!
Image|||seiya|||About DX9, 19, 11 57, etc, I have Windows XP pro. This won't run DX10 and above stuff. I know lots of folks have Vista, and a lot more are getting Windows 7. I don't doubt folks who say that Windows 7 is better, but for now XP is doing everything I want it to, so I don't really care to spend $150 to upgrade to Windows 7.
I'm just saying, if GPG makes DX10 the minimum requirement for KnC, then a lot of folks are not going to get it simply because they lack the operating system for it, myself included. I say have features that will take advantage of DX10 or 11 if it being used, but make a graphics engine which also supports DX9.|||Falcrack|||The game is at least a year away, and from chosan's graph, 61.96% of steam users are dx10 capable, with OS and hardware. Including all DX10+ hardware, we get 78.72% of steam users, which is MORE THAN 3/4 OF ALL STEAM USERS.
Heck, that's almost 8/10 people. Dx10 capable will almost certainly have risen to 70%, and dx10+hardware to over 80% by autumn 2011. That is my prediction.
Sadly, i have a dx11 card running winxp because i'm a Scrooge. Nevertheless, make DX10 your minimum requirement. I will have win7 in a year's time despite there not being anything inherently *wrong* with winxp.
It's a new fresh DX versions, and while it is sad to see dx9 go, if it can improve quality/performance then it has to be good. Lets not forget that programming for it should be easier, and that you don't need to have multiple rendering paths. it also gives you a guaranteed minimum system requirements that you can work with as all dx10+ cards must have the same minimum hardware requirements to be labelled dx10+ compatible by Microsoft. This eventually lets gpg save a good amount of time by only having to test on vista/win7 and any dx10 cards, cutting off weeks if not months worth of testing & compatibility work.
Sharing unit cap is such a simple idea that it begs the imagination why it hasn't shown up in other (gpg/ct) games. Obvious YES.
Fast play mode is essentially supcom1/FA's double resource mod, which is the only mod I cannot play without in skirmish/mp/lan. I am reminded of speed chess for some reason.|||And if you want 100% representation, you use OpenGL.|||http://blog.wolfire.com/2010/01/Why-you ... ot-DirectX|||Actually, I'm going to change my mind a bit and support this openGL group.
Go ask iD for help if you must, I'm sure John Carmack will be glad to help you, CT. :)
Hey guys! Lets mail CT to use OpenGL!! :3|||If we're set on DirectX, I say DX10, given the timeframe for release.
Also, now I really want to grab some magic cards and play a Two-Headed Giant or Emporer or even FFA (attack only to your right naturally) with Chris and crew.|||From what I understand, correct me if i'm wrong, but it looks like the game is based off the supcom Moho engine, which has a DirectX backbone. I don't think CT will rewrite the engine to use OpenGL for graphics only.
In the blog above didn't mention (yes I read it all), is that one of the things that DirectX appeals to developers is that its an all-in-one package, much more integrated than Open## (GL, AL etc).|||Can they make Mac games with DirectX?|||scotchtape622|||Oh alright, I was just asking because I'm pretty sure they said that KnC would be on Mac.|||And XBox and PS3. If they did a PS3/Mac stream, it would most certainly be worth the effort of making a second render path.|||Mazrix
