Or more question what do we all wan't, it seems kings and castles could mean almost anything to me. I do like the idea of its taking a couple of days for my knights to cross my 81x81km map though.|||What do I expect?
A forum full of pointless bitching and whining for the next 18 months.|||i think this one will turn out better.
constant feedback from the community during the design process will make the game better, or let everyone jump ship early so nobody drowns in a tsunami of disappointment.
since they've got nothing to show at the moment, we have three options right now;
- give them the benefit of the doubt,
- help them make something epic,
- GTFO.
Basically... I'm hoping for Warhammer Fantasy with strat zoom.|||Obviously_Not_Toot|||Xenoc|||Xenoc|||Xenoc|||Xenoc|||Only for as long as the community feel they're being listened to. however, what inevitably will happen is even if *some* of the community ideas are clearly taken and acted on, there will always be more ideas which are put forward and not used (either because they're no good, can't be balanced, etc etc).
Once that starts happening you have more people who see ideas *not* being used than those that are. People are dumb,a nd will get into the mindset of believeing that the game is some kind of ideas-by-committee job, but their ideas are being ignored.
The end result is a forum full of bitching and whining, with the majority of people seeing their ideas not acted upon (for perfectly legitimate reasons).
I wish GPG the best of luck, but I fear human nature is going to lead to nothing but my earlier prediction.|||Xenoc|||FunkOff|||BulletMagnet|||I expect a Supcom.like game that makes me remember the good old days with AoE2 while playing it, just with every awesome thing supcom has (expect bots and pewpew).
That´d be awesome!
Also, and I know this is a bit of a radical idea, but maybe, just maybe, game designers are usually above average at designing games because they, you know, actually do it successfully for a living. Many/most devs don't design the game by the way; they make the art and program the game. Presumably the designers wouldn't be designers for very long if their game was horrible, and probably wouldn't have become designers in the first place.
I'm not totally opposed to community feedback and suggestions; in fact, I typically think that it can be very important. However, many gamers let themselves get convinced that their barely-thought-through idea is the One and Only Way and cry when they aren't treated like god's gift to gaming.|||Gnats3|||BulletMagnet|||KnC
