I don't like the unit formation

[:1]current unit formation looks like this:

When it should be like this:

I really hope this picture is an inspiration on how living non mechanical units should look like in battle formation. The current KnC formations look awfully wrong. They might be doing it for tanks and mech units but for human soldiers it just looks too mechanical.
Look how close the units are to each other. It should be like this. Also a game like this would also profit from a regiment system instead of a single unit system.
BTW I found a new video which shows exactly what I want:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9lPgCCN_jk
Check the formations there, the unit movement speeds, unit behaviour and everything else|||If you look at the later video blog you can see more different formations and they are way more tighter. What you got there was like 4 months ago, and they are way past that.|||I think you shouldn't worry, for the following reasons: :D
1. Formation editor, you will be able to make your own formations.
2. Development stage; it's likely they are lining them up so we can a) get a look at how they are doing and b) make development easier.|||I've seen those formations on the new vlog as well and they still use the same robot formations :(
I really hope you are right though because this game looks very promising so far.
What I also dislike is that those units are moving super fast. Halved speed would fit much better to them when moving as they now look like lemmings on drugs|||I don't know, loose robotic formations would be absolutely perfect for charging a base defended by artillery, while a tight, tight formation would be excellent for attacking a forward base.|||I totally agree with the thread creator. Formations should look real, not just artificial|||and they will, just relax. they were probably still using the formations from SC2. they are better now, just look at vlog 29.|||What game is that?|||mys guess is either Third age: TW or LOTR: TW. am I right?|||VoW-Kryo|||Nobody wants the soldiers to walk in a total disaster, but just real. Its not real, taht all units in a formation begin to walk simultaneously and in the 100% identical animation and in 100% real formation.
MAke it look awesome like in total war series for example.|||VoW-Kryo|||-The-Baron-|||In an earlier vlog, Chris talked about the soldiers not being all robotic, not doing the same thing at the same time, but if I click "go here", I want all my soldiers to go there, maybe not in perfect formation from the start, but they better line up fast or get kicked out of my army..
Different starting animations might settle this, but a formation should definitely move in formation..|||One thing is true.. the monarch can freely move through this pre-production formation at will.|||VoW-Kryo|||still it didnt look like an robot formation (this may only be occured in the short time, where they fired 2 salvos first and then engaged in melee combat). And maybe the romans used some kind of robot formation, but most other armies didnt have robot formations^^. Just normal formations of living beings.|||It seems people don't get what I say.
Clarifications:
1) That game is Third Age: Total War. A mod for Medieval 2: Kingdoms
2) I never said formations are useless and get rid of them. I said don't make the same mistake people made when jumping from Total Annihilation to Total Annihilation: Kingdoms. Units moved like mechs, not like humans.
3) I want tight battle lines. I want to look it really like professional soldiers. What I don't want is when I change a formation that all my soldiers move with geometrical precision like they have running a little script in their heads with machine like 0 tolerance for deviation. I want soldiers hassling with their weapons when moving, waiting for each other and stuff. Note we are talking about some kind of medieval army system here which is far from those über drilled formation batallions we might see at Buckingham pallace or stuff.
4) I can assure you that even if you don't like how the soldiers look in the TA:TW picture it adds so much to the game. You have the right feeling you are commanding human beings.

Check this to understand what I mean. Look at army movement and how formations look REAL.

gpg really should think about making squads or something. not single swordsmen for example but a group of 12.
then you can really have battles look like battles. imagine you have 20 swordsmen fighting vs 20 others:
X represents team1, O represents team 2:
With the current system K&C seems to use a battle will look like this:
XXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXX
OOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOO
thats lame, no medieval fight looks like that (maybe romans held their lines like that, but not many armies did)
shortly after the fight begins it should look like that:
XXXXXXXXXX
OXXOXXOXXX
XXOOOOXOOO
OOOOOOOOOO
and after some more time and more reinforcements coming in and so on a melee fight just should look like an total mess :D

What I also would like, that cavalry actually can ride down footmen like the Rohirim did with the orks here:
