Will every one be getting the whole game at launch?

[:1]When the game is released will some people get parts of the game missing like what happened with supcom 2 on release day?|||At the rate things are looking, I'll be grabbing this within the week of release. If I go out of my way to buy something the day it becomes available it's a very big deal.|||BulletMagnet|||They really shouldn't do the same thing with pre-order maps like with Supcom 2, it really killed me that my Steam preorder wasn't as good as a preorder from gamestop or the like.|||I hope that all copies of the game are made equal.
I dont like the idea of having some things different because I pre-ordered from somewhere different to the next guy.
It was one of the (many) things that took the shine off Supcom 2 for me. Knowing there were maps out there, that I didnt and couldnt have.|||Day one purchase.|||mojom@n|||If it's spiritual successor to FA and/or AoE2, I'll be picking it up on day one. The closer GPG sticks to their successful formula the better. They had a formula that worked, and even moreso now that computers have become all the more powerful. I just went to a lan party with all-new computers and we played FA for a long time without the game slowing. PC performance is catching up to SupCom's demanding performance, especially since their engine is better. If GPG sticks to their successful formula I'll have nothing but praise for it.
GPG has a habit of releasing addicting games that are about 90% complete. The awesomeness of their games far exceeds the rough edges IMO. Shoot, I played Demigod forever while simultaneously being extremely frustrated at the bugs in it. I didn't know why I kept playing it, but I just couldn't stop.
P.S. I want a KnC version of the monkeylord.|||Epiphenomenon|||Epiphenomenon|||The thing is they got pretty damn close to 90 with the first Supreme Commander. It just befuddles me why they deviated from their successful formula. :/|||when did mojom@n become such a whinging bitch?|||Epiphenomenon|||pkc|||What???
GPG had to layoff folks after SupCom? I thought it was a good seller.
Does anyone know where to get pics of KnC?|||Developers rarely benefit from the sales of their games, publishers do.
Usually developers keep employing people based on their ability to find funding for future projects.
When the GFC happened publishers stopped funding new projects, especially for independent developers, so a lot of smaller studios got into big trouble.
Half the studios here in Melbourne closed down in the last 18 months or so.
The ones that are doing well are those that have skipped the publishers and are selling direct on iPhone / PSN / XBLA etc. It's a different style of work, requiring many teams making lots of small products quickly, rather than concentrating on one or two big games. It also means getting some marketing capability, which traditional game dev studios don't usually bother with.
-------------------
As for the preorder maps, think about why they might do such a thing. I'll bet it was necessary to provide special incentives before the big retailers will agree to carry a niche product like SCom2 on their shelves.
Shrug, if KnC wants to go digital-only or something, then it probably wont be necessary to do stuff like special preorder maps for specific retailers.
Heh, instead they'll nickel and dime you for DLC :P|||I don't like the idea of some people having access to maps, while others miss out. As a bonus for pre-ordering we should get some sort of "founding father" symbol that lets other players know we had the game since day 1. In BFME if you preordered the game you got to enter a club similar to this and everyone in this club had a symbol.|||The invention of seperate exclusive in game content for one and the same audience is the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen in my entire life. Not only does it upset those that didnt receive all the content but also leads 1 step further to what we've seen in starcraft 2 : Demanding money for things that should be in right at the release day.
I miss the days when your bonus was awesome hard cases or additional booklets and/or other exclusive out of game items.|||I agree that the game shouldn't come with exclusive content between the preorders. But if that content wan't part of the gameplay, like Korsan said, I wouldn't really mind that much.|||Epiphenomenon|||TehClawEternal
