Walls

We've seen the empire having access to a big cannon, dragon, ballista, and giant ox/elephant creature. Also magic.
Taking that into account, tall vertical walls would be susceptible to magic, large creatures, and explosives. Slanted walls, be they 15° or 40° are better at dealing with big animals, explosive, magic, etc. Slanted walls are more prone to deflection, and have a much wider base. They're also infinitely cooler than blandy vertical walls >;-}
2nd discussion topic: should Ancients and 3rd race have walls?|||It's Kings and Castles, walls are a must, even if they're as simple as palisades, we need walls.|||When you start discussing Castles, how can there not be walls?|||agreed, and while your at it, make them mountable. walls are so much more fun and usefull if you can put men on them.
does not neccisserily hold for castles, but would be cool.|||DeadMG|||I don't mean that the game should, or shouldn't, have walls. D'uh it has walls. I mean that they type of walls should probably not be classical high-medieval vertical walls as those are inherently fragile to large creatures, gunpowder siege weapons/trebuchets, and obviously magic. Slanted walls are inherently better than vertical walls.|||As long as people can go on the walls i am satisfied.|||Peacebreaker|||C.Lupus|||re1wind|||you do realize that walls were used side-by-side with cannon for at least a century? And that as a result of cannons castles and walls attained slanted walls with wider bases to cope better with explosives? ;)|||a century? more like 3 or 4. and when I last checked, to about 100 years ago some of such fortresses were considered unpenetrable, even with the biggest cannons.
that is, until the first world war offcourse.
but we're talking medievel times here and maybe slitely later. I think it would be quit doable to have both big cannons and uber walls in a game.|||We have magic. Magic + wall = magic wall. Magic walls stop cannons. Of course magic + cannon would be magic cannon but hey I can't think of an answer to everything.
I guess a wizard did it.|||you are obviously forgetting the wizard cannon.
Image|||Obviously_Not_Toot|||:D Toot is a genius|||Walkable walls, and siege ladders etc is IMO one of the very most important things that I really really want in this game. Top of my wishlist!|||Agreed, walkable walls and different varieties of walls are important. I seem to remember Stronghold had a good selection, although I didn't like the overall gameplay myself.|||Stronghold was fun, but the mechanic they used for units scaling/defending walls could not be used in KnC.|||Walls can collapse.. tell that to Jericho...
Holo-looking walls Vs. magic, wood ans stone walls for whatever conventional stuff and fire walls against huge animals.. that's what comes to mind in this blink of an eye ;) .|||Walls confirmed in Vlog 19!
Look at what the WAR BOAR was ramming into...|||I am just glad the castles don't look like a single building with nothing else attached to it anymore:
Image|||I always liked the BFME 1 walls, even though you couldn't build them wherever you want they were still really good. Even though they didn't offer any cover for the archers nor seem to not give them longer range. I think walls should do both those things. Also the infantry was a big to quick to get up in the siege towers ans ladders.
Other than that i think BFME had a pretty good model, even though in KnC i expect being able to build things wherever i want|||Solar|||Lol, it is; indeed :D
And by the way, bear cavalry for the KnC game sounds cool to me as well!
