Its great to see the people at Gas Powered Games to show people what goes in to a game and the development process.
I have an idea for the game, in the videos you see soldiers just running at the huge monsters. I think some should be more fearful and be more unique as individuals. Like when a dragon lands in front or around them they should not just continue running along like normal, there is now a huge dragon there. Some should look surprised and react. But not react so much that it'll be annoying to the players.
But there should be fear and a reaction. The more lowly the unit type the more scared they are, they also can be boosted by a powerful leader. The leader can make or break an army, how your king's traits can change the army. Is the king, one to admired. Or is he harsh with the people? These factors could make armies more unique and give each soldier a personal feeling towards there leader and the situation there in.
Also how well equipped a soldier is for the job at hand, your archers at the back of the lines are suddenly flanked by knights. Some should flee and the rest try to defend themselves with a mixture of their available weapons. They should work as people rather than as a unit of men. The more experienced the men then the more team work they do. All the time you see archers automatically change from bow to short sword in games. They shouldn't all do this, they should fire there bow if there able to, some would back off and fire from there, some maybe more experienced with dealing with knights so they get in a better position.
The knights shouldn't all just get up close to the people and hit with there weapons standing around tow to tow. They should use there mounts as an advantage and ride around the enemy and hit them as they flee. Mounted units don't want to get that close because their horse can more easily be killed, and then they'll be beaten to death on the ground.
These are people not just set pieces, they do what they must to survive.|||There are a couple threads discussing morale systems and ways to implement them in the suggestions forums. That should get you up to speed on what the current ideas are.
